WHAT ARE MUDRAS?

The word “mudra” is generally translated as  ‘gesture’ or ‘attitude’ and can be described as a psychic, emotional, devotional and aesthetic gesture or attitude.

Derived from the root words ‘mud’ meaning pleasure and ‘dravay’ meaning ‘to draw forth’, mudra is that which brings happiness.

An angry person raises his eyebrows or clenches his fists or jaws. A happy person will laugh. A sad person may cry. These are all symbols of our emotions. So also Mudras are the symbols of our consciousness.

What will you learn in this workshop?

SCIENCE BEHIND THE MUDRAS

We will learn how Mudras manipulate the prana or the energy of the body, preserving it, regulating it and giving it a purposeful direction.

ASANAS AND SURYANAMASKARS

These are practiced to feel the energy flowing in the body and get ready to experience the mudras.

BREATHING PRACTICES & PRANAYAMA

These further help to sensitise the body for the practice of mudras as they directly deal with the breath which is the most tangible way to feel our prana.

THERAPEUTIC MUDRAS

Mudras can be used to remedy ailments of the physical body. We will learn mudras for relieving constipation, improving the breathing, digestion, immunity and alleviate allergies and many more

VARIETY OF MUDRAS

Mudra may involve the whole body in a combination of asana, pranayama, bandha and visualization techniques, or it may be a simple hand position.

We are going to practice a variety of mudras like Hand mudras, Head mudras, Perineal Mudras, Postural mudras and Lock Mudras, going step wise from easy to advanced.

If you miss a session, you can access a recording. But we recommend live classes for the best experience 🙂

Each class has 2 teachers. The main teacher takes the practices, while the support teacher will help you with corrections and any other assistance you need
